How I Will Stay Sane: a short list of important steps.

How will this boy-mom stay sane, when she’s used to a 9-5 life?

It’s easy…. Sort of.

1.    Maintain a weekly routine and schedule.

It looks something like this:

2.    Take time for God every day.

Ideally I will need to start getting up at 5:30 for an uninterrupted hour

Of time to read a devotional, go over bible verses and pray. I’m just not ready yet. My three-month-old baby wakes me up during the night. So for now, I’m fitting it in 5 minutes here and 10 minutes there.

Bible played over speakers in the car on the way to the store, one page of devotional in that semi-quiet hour I spend alone in my room with just the baby before bed.

3.    Take a little me-time every day.

This one is just a tiny bit tricky because me-time activities have to be compromised on now. 21-year-old me would have thought me-time meant taking a full day shopping at malls, walking on the beach and eating at her favorite restaurants. As a 33-year-old mom, me-time is much shorter, simpler and more frugal. It might be getting to spend 20 minutes ordering an iced coffee and talking to someone I recognize at the coffee shop before returning to my family. Or it might be as simple as half an hour looking at memes before bed. However small or simple, it is still necessary.

4.    Eat a balanced diet and drink water.

Vegetables and fruits balanced with protein balanced with a few carbs and a treat.

5.    Seek support from other moms.

I can do this through social media or real life, but talking to others who have been at this for awhile is crucial.
